The Gates of Hell

At the Rodin Museum in Paris you can view Auguste Rodin’s The Gates of Hell. Most of his sculptures, including The Thinker, were created for use in this piece. This sculpture was intended to be the main entrance doors for the Museum of Decorative Arts. He was commissioned in 1880 but continued to work on and off on this piece until his death in 1917. The museum was never built and the doors were never installed.
