A photo tour of fine Southern sights

As we left New Orleans and traveled the coast we attempted to stay as close to the water as possbile. We visited barrier islands and grand southern cities such as Savannah and Charleston. Here are a dozen images from America’s deep south .

An unexpected neighborhood tour of New Orleans

I’ve never been to New Orleans and we really were not here to see the city. We had a morning to catch a quick glance before heading over to Biloxi, Mississippi to see a sailboat that was for sale. All I wanted was to see the French quarter and part of the city, just to … Continue reading »

Grand Isle Louisiana

As we left Texas, I looked at the map of Louisiana and saw a State Park. It was on a tiny island that extended far out into the Gulf of Mexico. The road, Hwy 1, ended or maybe started there. Either way it seemed like a remote spot, out in the middle of the swamp, … Continue reading »

Morning Walk at Goose Island

West Texas is big, hilly and dry. The countryside is creosote and prickly pear cactus that climb up and down dry dusty … Continue reading »

Broken down in Oklahoma

Travel isn’t without risks.  But few things are.  If you aren’t willing to take risks then you’ll never (enter any word you like here, such as start a business, see interesting places, love, eat, laugh and learn). Our trip hit a bit of a snag yesterday when we were about 10 miles onto the Will … Continue reading »

Adventure Bound

About ten years ago, on the Travel Channel, there was a show called Adventure Bound with Alby Mangels.  Alby is the original Australian wild man.  He always seemed to be doing crazy things on land and sea.  His program was pure vicarious travel – and I loved it. Tomorrow Sara and I are off on … Continue reading »
