Our 2027 spring & fall cruising adventures will continue in the heart of Burgundy. Each weeklong trip will be a little different from the others and might include staying in the French capital of gastronomy (Dijon), or visiting a city that has been occupied since the Stone Age and is now known as the French capital of watch-making (Besançon), to cruising the Saône River (the Saône has the largest watershed of any French river that does not flow directly into the sea) and the Canal du Centre (opened in 1792), enjoying the picturesque, rural towns in this historic region of France.

2026 Spring & Fall Canal Boat Tours in Burgundy. All Inclusive!
Our 2026 spring cruising adventure* will take you from the Ducal capital of Burgundy, Dijon, to the capital of Franche-Comté, Besançon. This route uses two canals, Canal de Bourgogne and Canal du Rhone au Rhin. Heaping plates of Burgundian gastronomy, history, and natural beauty lay at our table. This is a meal to be shared. Climb aboard, ease into a chair, hoist a glass, and toast our collective good fortune.
In the fall of 2026 we are heading into the vineyards* to capture the harvest, traveling from St-Jean-de-Losne to Montceau-les-Mines on the Canal du Centre. In either season we will engage in France in
a way which is unique to only the boater – we will be traveling through rural and urban France employing a method of a bygone era. Allow yourself to be seduced by an adventure in Burgundy.

Note:
The boat is booked and the dates are set. The cruise is one week and you come aboard the night before we leave. There is time to decide if you want to extend your trip to Paris or another place after committing to the boat trip. If adding on to your boat cruise by visiting Paris or another location, hotels can be booked anywhere from 3-6 months out. Planned & Guided Canal Boat Tours include:
- One week (7 nights on Relax Companion) of guided canal boat cruising.
- These trips are all inclusive! Every meal, on board or together at a restaurant, is included. All breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and all beverages (wine, beer & cocktails) are included in the price.
- An on-suite cabin on Relax Companion (each cabin sleeps 2).
- All ground transfers to and from the boat to Paris (train, car, taxi service, and public transit).
- Two accomplished guides / your captain & cook, David & Sara (Savvy Nomad) or Rick & Carla (RC Travel).
- Instruction on French culinary traditions including fine dining and wine education, plus history tidbits along our route.
- Working together as a crew to navigate the boat through the amazing, historic network of French engineering and hydrology.
- Optional yoga with a Registered Yoga Teacher (weather and location depending).
- Final night hotel room at the airport in Paris.
- Extras can include a few days in Paris or other cities, or perhaps a self-guided driving tour.
* The price of your overall vacation will increase depending on time of year traveling, level of airfare purchased, using or not using points to buy an airfare ticket, extending your trip, trip extras/add-ons, requesting a solo cabin, etc.
* Cost per person assumes double occupancy. Single occupancy fee.
* Boat is 6 person occupancy: 3 cabins, each cabin sleeps 2 = 4 guests & 2 guides.
* Cost does not include airfare or travel outside of planned & guided trip.
